I grew up in the lower mainland, and have spent most of my years in beautiful British Columbia. After four years at the University of Victoria, studying everything from theatre and writing, to film and photography, I’ve returned home to my roots in this beautiful city. In fact, Little Black Umbrella took its name from one of Vancouver’s most common hand-held, rain-defying gadgets. Working in Vancouver and the surrounding areas, I am always prepared for beautiful, breathtaking sunsets, and soul-drenching rainstorms…often within the same hour. Several of my first wedding sessions guest-starred some nasty storms. As a result, I rarely leave home without several umbrellas!
I’m a true believer in doing what you love. I’m all for making ends meet, but there has to be something that really calls to you. Photography does that for me – I don’t know how else I could explain losing myself for hours upon hours of photo editing and love every second of it. For me, great photography is about capturing the unexpected moments, rain or shine. It’s more than just point and click. When I pick up my camera, I have a responsibility to each and every client to take photographs that are true to who you are, whether we’re capturing who you are as a couple or a family, or capturing the first images of your little one. Our clients are trusting us to capture moments, and it’s not a goal that can be achieved through ‘point and click!’
